Police search for suspect in off-campus robbery

A UIC student was robbed of his MP3 player in an off-campus strong-arm robbery at 7 p.m. June 11 at 1621 W. Roosevelt Road.

The student was accosted on the sidewalk near a shopping center. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, thin, 19 to 25 years old, 5-feet-6 inches to 5-feet-9 inches tall. He had brown braided hair and wore a white hoodie and black jogging pants.

The UIC Police/Chicago Police Department Joint Robbery Task Force and CPD Area Central Detectives are investigating. Call UIC Police at 312-996-2830 with information.

Arrests by UIC Police

June 13: A woman was arrested for theft at 3 p.m. at the UIC Police Station, related to a March 4 crime.

June 14: A man was arrested for criminal trespass at 9:26 p.m. in the Science and Engineering South Building.

June 15: A woman was arrested on a warrant at 3:17 a.m. at 1157 S. Lytle St.

A man was arrested for battery at 9:21 p.m. at the UI Hospital.
