Arrests by UIC Police

Sept. 15: A man was arrested for criminal trespass at 1:45 p.m. at 810 S. Clinton St.

Sept. 16: A man was arrested for robbery at 6:30 p.m. at 1325 S. Halsted St.

Sept. 18: A man was arrested at the UIC Police Station at 8:10 a.m. for thefts that occurred Oct. 26 and Dec. 21, 2013.

 

Crime alert

A teenaged male tried unsuccessfully to snatch a UIC student’s purse on a street off campus Thursday, UIC Police said.

The student was approached from behind about 7 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Lytle Street. The offender grabbed her purse strap, but she held onto the purse.

The would-be robber fled eastbound through an alley. He was described as black, age 13 or 14, 5-feet-2, 120 pounds, with short hair, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. If you have information about this or other crimes, contact UIC Police at 312-996-2830.
