Asian American Awareness Month keynote speaker Arden Cho, actress, singer and model, who stars in the MTV show “Teen Wolf.”

UIC celebrates Asian American Awareness Month with cultural events, performances, lectures and other presentations during its “A Celebration of Culture and Consciousness” series of events.

The keynote speaker is Arden Cho from the MTV show “Teen Wolf.”

April 6
Asian American Awareness Month Kickoff 

Featuring UIC Radio and student performers.

April 11
Keynote for Asian American Awareness Month

Arden Cho, actress, singer and model, will discuss her life, career and more in
conversation with a UIC student host.

3–5 p.m. Illinois Room, Student Center East

April 15
“Stumbling between Black (Lives Matter) and White (Supremacy): Asian Americans, Civil Rights Movements, and Articulations of Racial Mattering” 

Presentation by OiYan Poon, assistant professor of higher education at Loyola University Chicago, who will examine the contemporary Asian American desire for public affirmation of their experiences with racism and the subtle, and at times apparent, anti-black ideology underlying some of these efforts.
