How should students make the most of their time at UIC?

Campus Programs offers 75 ideas on its UIC Bucket List.

The adventurous list, which encourages students to get involved on campus and in the community, includes experiences such as seeing a play at the UIC Theatre and pulling an all-nighter at the UIC Library to attending a neighborhood music festival and taking a water taxi.

Other suggestions: see your reflection in the Bean, learn the UIC Fight Song, join or create a club, tell your favorite professor “thank you,” say hello to prospective students and parents touring campus, and more.

If you’re reading this article, you can cross one item off the bucket list — reading UIC News.

And No. 75 is the ultimate goal: graduate.

“I did most of the activities with students who live on campus,” said sophomore Tania Alvarado. “That bond of experiencing UIC together actually helped us become great friends.”

Campus Programs has created a UIC Bucket List Challenge: complete an activity on the list and prove it with a photo by tagging @UICCampusPrgms on Instagram (#UICBucketList).

Winners receive canvas prints of their photos at the end of the academic year.

“I would definitely recommend completing these activities with other students,” senior Kris Nitromethane said.

“It’s a great way to meet new people and explore the city.”

Campus Programs envisions the Bucket List Challenge as a long-term endeavor to enhance campus life and help bring students together.

“The challenge is meant to be an ongoing experience and our hope is that it will become a UIC tradition,” said Sladjana Grbic, assistant program director in Campus Programs.

Students can post suggestions for items to add to the list on the official UIC Campus Programs Facebook page.
