Between Modernity and Tradition: Art and Design in Contemporary Shanghai

Ray Zhang, interior designer and co-founder of the RooMoo Design Studio, and Dian Chen, Chinese writer and painter, will give a talk about the art and design in contemporary Shanghai to the students of Chinese 210, Understanding Contemporary Chinese Society through Shanghai. Their talk will focus on Shanghai’s development as an urban, international and transcultural space. Their work offers a unique and meaningful lens through which students can connect course concepts with professional and cross-cultural experiences in Shanghai.
