How can we shape Riverdale’s future together?
Graduate students in UIC’s Master of City Design program are working with Riverdale residents and community partners to help shape a healthier, more resilient future for the neighborhood.
At this town hall, see students’ design proposals inspired by community input.
The “Chicago Charrette,” is a hands-on, field-based intensive studio from May 18-June 12. Students will be collaborating with the Riverdale Community Land Trust, Openlands, and Greenprint Partners to co-design built environment design solutions around the Calumet region and Riverdale neighborhood. Students will also work with design partners – Design Workshop and SOM to conduct various community engagement activities such as design charrette and focus groups to develop affordable housing, economic development, stormwater management, health and environmental justice design ideas to support future planning efforts in Riverdale.
The studio is generously supported by the UIC Center for Extreme Conditions and Heat Excellence.
