Climate Resilience Workshop

Date / Time

October 11, 2017

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

You are invited to participated in a Climate Resilience Workshop as part of UIC’s Climate Action planning process. This workshop is intended to add a Climate Resilience component to our Climate Action Implementation Plan (CAIP) and help us to prepare for the likely impacts we will see on our campus and in the greater Chicago community from climate change.

What is Resilience?
Our working definition of Resilience is “is the ability and capacity to absorb an external disturbance, maintain the core mission and the functions of UIC and recover to previous or improved conditions.
Institutional Resilience is achieved through the actions of preparing, preventing, mitigating, responding and managing external disturbances.

We are focused on five domains: Governance & Engagement, Health & Wellness, Infrastructure, Financial, and Ecosystem Services. Your expertise will assist in determining what UIC’s strengths and vulnerabilities are, as well as specific actions that we can take to enhance our resilience. We hope that will attend this interactive workshop. RSVP for the workshop.

Co-chairs of the Climate Resilience Subcommittee, Chancellor’s Committee on Sustainability and Energy, are:

Cynthia Klein-Banai, associate chancellor for sustainability

Carol Petersen, associate director, Student Development Services
