Continuous Connections: Peoria Pasts, Present and Future in Illinois

Continuous Connections: Peoria Pasts, Present and Future in Illinois explores the question: What lies behind traditional land acknowledgments, and how can we engage more meaningfully with Indigenous histories? Join Elizabeth Ellis (Princeton University) for a critical look at land acknowledgments, historical erasure and the ongoing connections between past narratives and contemporary communities. Focusing on the history of the Peoria people, this talk centers key themes of movement, mobility and Indigenous sovereignty in Illinois. The first 30 people will receive Ellis’ book!
