Italian singer-songwriters (cantautori) were the sound track of Italian changes in the 1960s and 1970s. Their lyrics were often inspired to classics of world literature. In this talk plus musical performance Prof. Francesco Ciabattoni (Georgetown University) will explain the meaning of literary references in the songs by such cantautori as Fabrizio De André; Francesco De Gregori, and Francesco Guccini. Music performed by Washington D.C. based band The i-Talians. Check out the website http://italiansongwriters.com/

This event is made possible thanks to a collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute at Chicago and De Paul University, Chicago.
