About the Jazz Ensemble Program:
Concert features the music of the great William “Count” Basie (1904-1984). Basie’s Kansas City-based big band was one of the most influential of all time, teaching generations of jazz musicians how to swing. We are proud to pay homage to this great pioneer of jazz. The Jazz Ensemble is conducted by Chris Madsen.

About the Jazz Combo Program:
Concert features music from the past to the present. We have selected music that is
rooted in the tradition of swing while also exploring other sub genres in Jazz, such as Afro-Cuban, Latin, and Samba. This ensemble has chosen to represent the music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Curtis Fuller, Roy Hargrove, and select standards sung by our vocalist that were influenced by Michael Buble and Jose James. We look forward to connecting with you as performers and listeners of the music. The Jazz Combo is conducted by Marques Carroll.

All of our concerts are free and open to the public. Registration is required.

Music Faculty, if you require students to attend a specific concert for class credit, please contact Neal McCollam.
