12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us as we kickstart Latinx Heritage Month with Citlalli Citlalmina Anahuac! Come learn a bit of history, feel empowered about your own roots, and find out how our culture continues to live within us. This hybrid event is Sept. 15 from noon to 3 p.m. at Student Center East in the Cardinal Room (3rd Floor).

Citlalli is a historian, poet, activist. For the past 26 years, she has been studying decolonial Mexican history as a detribalized Mexicana and has dedicated her activism, poetry, and research to understanding and sharing that history. Since 2008 she has been using social media as a way to share a multi-dimensional approach to reclaiming our history and identity and democratize decolonial education. She presents critical historical research in energetic and entertaining ways to her social media audiences. Her passion is to share the hidden history that is kept from mainstream education and celebrate the overlooked Indigenous histories and identities of the Mexican and Chicanx experience. Her free and private courses focus on providing accessible education for all ages and a priority to teaching the BIPOC community. She offers free courses on her youtube channel: Mexican Excellence and presents her message to various educational and social spaces. Check out her publications, videos, and courses. She currently lives on Tongva/Kizh territory, dedicating herself to her toddler and focusing full-time on creating an autonomous decolonial curriculum as part of her E-Decolonize courses.
