We are proud to introduce to you The Open Seminar: The Sustainable Campus, which will be presented by Dr. Cynthia Klein-Banai, assistant vice chancellor and director of sustainability and adjunct assistant professor, environmental and occupational health sciences.

This 50-minute discussion seminar is about climate change, how it manifests generally at the global level, and how it pertains specifically to complex institutions at college and university campuses. Sustainability is broadly defined and will be discussed in the context and intersection of environmental, fiscal, and social equity/responsibility. Furthermore, you will also learn how to get involved with sustainability initiatives on campus as part of your work or studies at UIC. Attendees will be asked to prepare by reading, listening, or watching assigned material prior to class to enhance the discussion.

The first seminar was held Jan. 18. Additional spring seminar dates are:

  • February 15, 2021 – 12 p.m.
  • March 15, 2021 – 12 p.m.
  • April 19, 2021 – 12 p.m.

The seminar is open to anyone who pre-registers and will be held on Zoom with breakout discussion rooms.  Save your spot if you are interested in learning more about this. Attendance at all sessions is preferred, but not required.
