Final opportunity for public input on Circle interchange project

The Illinois Department of Transportation is planning a $420 million, multi-year construction project to reconfigure the Circle Interchange where the Kennedy, Eisenhower and Dan Ryan expressways merge next to the UIC campus.

The current plans include:

· New ramps that fly over Harrison and Halsted Streets
· Upgrades to the three UIC-Halsted CTA station entrances
· Transformation of the Peoria Street pedestrian bridge
· Redesign of the north entrance to the campus

Phased bridge closures will occur during construction.

If funding is approved, initial construction will start with the Morgan Street bridge in early fall 2013 and the Peoria Street Bridge over the over spring and summer 2014.
