Radical Research from BIPOC Scholars at UIC – Gabriela Nunez Mir, PhD

Date / Time

March 8, 2023

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Presented by the UIC Latino Cultural Center.

Join us as Bridge to Faculty scholars share their experiences and respective research with the UIC community. Through an intersectional lens, these scholars reveal the complexity and specificity of their contemporary research and how the lives of those in the margins are impacted.

Gabriela Nunez Mir, PhD, from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will focus on her research on invasive insect pests that have devastating effects on forest ecosystems. Her research takes advantage of the extensive amount of spatial and temporal distributional data available for a highly damaging forest pest, Lymantria dispar (f.k.a. European gypsy moth), to explore regional patterns on the local dynamics of invasive spread.
