Date / Time
October 16, 2019 - October 16, 2019
3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
The Women’s Leadership and Resource Center, Chi Sigma Omega UIC Chapter, and Asian American Resource and Cultural Center are initiating a series of events throughout this academic year to critically examine gender-based violence education and prevention on college campuses. This series will include one workshop (women of color perspectives) scheduled for fall, followed by three workshops (topics including male allies, LGBTQIA, and disability), a book discussion on Know My Name by Chanel Miller, and a final student-centered panel discussion in spring.
Questions for Discussion for this workshop:
- Definition: Who are we as women of color?
- Challenges: What challenges do women of color face in getting their needs met and having their voices heard?
- Remedy: How can gender-based violence education and prevention on college campuses recognize and address the concrete experiences of women of color?
