The Women’s Health Initiative at UIC is hosting an event on social media use for students and aspiring professionals on Oct. 19 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

Social media is a useful tool for elevating our own and others’ voices, but some posts can be misconstrued as “unprofessional” — especially if they’re commenting on or raising awareness for controversial topics. Are traditional standards and values of professionalism truly objective and unbiased? Learn more about “professionalism,” coded bias in professional guidelines, and how to use social media effectively at WHI’s workshop! Speakers will include UIC professors, resume and social media experts, and graduate school advisors. The event is open to all UIC students and staff.
