Microtransit began around 2015, combining the elements of existing technology and public transportation. As 2023 unfolds, this transportation option continues to grow and evolve in cities across the nation.

The evolution of micromobility, defined as transportation that employs lightweight vehicles such as bicycles or scooters, particularly electric ones, continues as a growing number of communities across the nation offer these modes as a solution to the first mile/last mile problem and a way to reduce congestion and improving air quality.

The debut UTC Spring 2023 Seminar Series presentation will feature two speakers from Via Transportation Inc. who will share thoughts regarding how on-demand and transit has evolved over the past decade to play a part in urban, suburban and rural transit systems nationwide. Our speakers also will address the impact of microtransit to date and its future potential.

All are invited to what should be an enlightening and provocative discussion. Featured speakers Nahry Tak, central partnerships director, and Katie Malkin, state and local policy director, will address the impact of microtransit to date and its future potential.
