Mauricio VanHeusden is the general manager of Cooperativa El Recuerdo, located in Jalapa, Guatemala. Originally from Belgium, VanHeusden has dedicated over 25 years to grassroots development in this underserved region of eastern Guatemala. His work has focused on advancing gender rights, promoting health equity, preserving local culture, and protecting the environment. Through decades of committed leadership, he has become a vital advocate for sustainable progress and social justice in Jalapa.
