Carlos Juan Crespo
Dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences; Professor of Kinesiology and Nutrition
Biography
Carlos Crespo is the dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences and professor of kinesiology and nutrition at UIC. His research involves the epidemiology of physical activity in the prevention of chronic diseases and minority health issues.
Crespo received a U.S. Secretary of Health Award for Distinguished Service and, in 2003, was named Minority Health and Health Disparities Scholar by the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities.
He currently serves on a National Hispanic Health Foundation advisory board and is a member of the National Latino Education Institute Board of Directors. He has served on a CDC advisory committee for the Community Guide for Physical Activity and the Built Environment; the Physical Activity Alliance Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee; the Executive Steering Committee of the Diversity Program Consortium of the NIH; and the Oregon Latino Health Coalition. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and a member of the Journal Cities and Health Editorial Board.
