Biography
Kirsten Straughan is a clinical assistant professor of nutrition in the College of Applied Health Sciences. A registered dietitian nutritionist with more than 25 years of experience, she is also a certified specialist in sports dietetics, a credential recognizing advanced expertise in nutrition for athletic performance and active lifestyles.
Throughout her career, Straughan has worked to translate nutrition science into practical, evidence-based recommendations that help individuals make informed decisions about their health and well-being. Her areas of focus include general nutrition, sports nutrition, performance fueling, hydration, weight management and nutrition across the lifespan. As an educator and nutrition professional, Straughan is passionate about helping the public navigate the often-confusing nutrition landscape and distinguish evidence-based guidance from misinformation.
