Yochai Eisenberg
Associate Professor of Disability and Human Development
Biography
Yochai Eisenberg is an associate professor in UIC’s Department of Disability and Human Development in the College of Applied Health Sciences, and an affiliated researcher at the Great Lakes Americans with Disabilities Act Center and the Institute on Disability and Human Development.
He studies how policies, systems and environments affect community mobility, transportation use and health among people with disabilities. His research has contributed to a better understanding of the implementation of barrier-removal plans for the pedestrian infrastructure in the U.S., rideshare use and satisfaction among people with disabilities. It has also improved accessibility of environments that support healthy, active living for all.
He serves on the Transportation Research Board’s Committee on Older Adults and People with Disabilities. In 2023, he was also appointed by Secretary Pete Buttigieg to the U.S. Department of Transportation Research Board’s Standing Technical Committee on Mobility of Older Persons and Individuals with Disabilities.
