In the end, the red team  — D’Juan Miller, Markese McGuire, Marc Brown, Jake Wiegand, Jason McClellan and Paris Burns — topped the blue squad, 68-54. But the event really was about letting the fans see what the team has to offer this season.

Jay Harris won the three-point contest and Paris Burns won the dunk contest.

The Flames kick off the season with an exhibition game at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 versus Beloit at the UIC Pavilion. UIC battles DePaul in its Nov. 14 season opener.

“This will be one of the most competitive years in the Horizon League,” head coach Howard Moore said.

“This is a very strong conference with several talented players. It’s always nice to start the season at home, but in this league it doesn’t matter where you play. Each game is going to be a dogfight.”
