The volleyball team (12-10/5-2 Horizon League) defeated Loyola, 3-1, Friday at the Gentile Arena.

Senior Janise Dismuke posted her fifth straight .400-plus hitting percentage after knocking down 12 kills at .524. Kelsey Safranek led the Flames in kills with 15, and Aubrey Sniegowski chipped in 10.

Nicole Allgood collected 14 digs and knocked down eight kills.

Junior MaryKate Imrie dished out 48 assists.

The Ramblers led the first set, 7-4, before UIC posted a four-point run to gain an 8-7 advantage. But Loyola pushed ahead to take an 11-8 lead.

The teams traded points until Sniegowski ignited a six-point run with a kill. The Flames held onto the lead to capture the set, 25-22.

The Flames controlled the second set to win by 12-point advantage, 25-13.

The Ramblers came back and took the third set, 25-15.

The teams played a back-and-forth game at the beginning of the fourth set before UIC outscored Loyola, 11-2. The Flames’ rally resulted in a 10-point lead, 21-11. UIC won four of the next five points to take the set, 25-13, and the match, 3-1.

The Flames continue conference play with a 6 p.m. match Friday at Wright State in Dayton, Ohio.
