Women’s tennis nets back-to-back wins

The women’s tennis team captured its first two wins of the season over the weekend.

UIC hosts its first home dual of the season Saturday versus Akron.

At Bowling Green (1-5) Saturday, the Flames bested the Falcons, 4-3.

Bianca Zuzu beat opponent Marina Ferrero, 6-0, 6-0, in singles at the No. 5 spot. Zuzu combined with Jackie Altansarnai in doubles to defeat Bowling Green, 6-0, at No. 3.

Ann-Sophie Hahn brought down Polina Radeva, 6-3, 6-1, in the No. 2 spot. Rachel Le Comber bested Leah Floyd, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6. In the No. 4 spot, Melika LeBlanc defeated Emily Witt 6-1 in the first set before Witt retired in the second.

The Flames beat Toledo, 5-2, Sunday on the road.

Altansarnai brought down Emily Mazzola in three sets, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 1 position.

LeBlanc bested opponent Megan Miller, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 4. Zuzu continued her win streak, defeating Claire Aleck, 6-3, 7-5, in the No. 5 spot. Le Comber earned her second singles victory of the weekend at No. 6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 against Mackenzie Bowman.

In doubles, Oana Manole combined with Le Comber to bring down Mazzola and Sidnay Huck, 6-4. Zuzu and Altansarnai came together to defeat Aleck and Lauren Thai, 6-4.
