Women’s tennis protects perfect league record

The women’s tennis team (11-5, 5-0 HL) maintained its perfect Horizon League record with a 6-1 win against Green Bay (1-14, 0-5 HL) Sunday morning at Western Racquet & Fitness Club.

The Flames earned five straight-set wins in singles play alongside the doubles point to secure their fifth conference win of the season.

Oana Manole and Rachel Le Comber earned their fourth straight win as a pair, bringing down Jule-Sophie Hermann and Samm Pedersen 6-3 in the No. 1 doubles position.

Jackie Altansarnai and Bianca Zuzu breezed past Stephanie Londre and Noel Peck, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot.

Altansarnai earned her second victory of the weekend against Headford at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-2, 6-0.

Ann-Sophie Hahn blanked Londre at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 3, Manole was victorious against Chiara Berg with a 6-4, 6-3 victory, while Melika LeBlanc was bested by Hermann at No. 4, 6-3, 6-4.

Le Comber took her 12th singles victory of the season at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Pedersen, and Zuzu brought in the sixth point for UIC at No. 6, 6-0, 6-2 against Neff.

UIC closes out its road slate against Detroit Saturday and Oakland Sunday.
