Please (virtually) join us for the annual University of Illinois Chicago Department of Emergency Medicine Tamara O’Neal Health Justice Symposium on Nov. 4 from 8 a.m.-noon.

The Health Justice Symposium is an annual conference dedicated to the topics of Social Emergency Medicine. Prior topics have included food deserts, resource availability, diversity in medicine and physician wellness, to name a few. We have been fortunate enough to have impactful presentations on cutting-edge topics by amazing guest speakers both locally and nationally. This year, we are hosting panel discussions on topics that were placed in the forefront due to the pandemic. We will be dividing the topics of discussion into three categories: Health Justice and Education, Health Justice in Media, and Health and Policy. We have a wonderful lineup of speakers this year including Chicago news anchors that covered health care topics at the height of COVID-19, leaders in emergency medicine education across multiple Chicago residency programs, Dr. Ngozi Ezike, the acting director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, as well as, pre-recorded interviews and messages from Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton.
