In this webinar produced by the Field Museum of natural history, Dr. Molly Doane (UIC, Anthropology), Dr. Joanna Michel (UIC College of Medicine), and Dr. Alka Wali (Field Museum, North American Curator) will be discussing their current exhibit, Plant Medicine. The exhibit explores how Chicagoans pursue well-being through using and growing plant medicines, as well as how growing plants can provide broad ecological and social benefits. The “Plant Medicine” webinar will take place Tuesday, April 12, at noon. The program runs for an hour. It will feature a brief overview of the physical exhibit, a 5-minute film featuring urban gardens and a conversation with leaders in the urban gardening world, Orrin Williams (UIC, Food Systems Coordinator, Chicago Partnership for Health Promotion), Cordia Pugh (Founder and Coordinator, Hermitage St Garden and Veteran’s Memorial Garden, Englewood) and Paula Acevedo (Coordinator of El Paseo Community Garden, Pilsen).
