Barlow earns spot on preseason league team
Men’s basketball player Kelsey Barlow has been selected for the Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team.
The 6-foot-5 guard/forward will suit up for his final collegiate season after playing three years at Purdue.
Barlow, a senior, sat out the 2012-13 season because of NCAA transfer rules.
“We are happy for Kelsey that he is getting some recognition around the league,” head coach Howard Moore said. “He has logged a ton of hours in the gym over the last year and it’s easy to see his passion for basketball.
“Kelsey is an extremely hard worker and a great on-the-court leader.”
Barlow makes his Flames’ debut Nov. 2 in a home exhibition game against the University of Chicago, followed by the season opener versus Drake Nov. 9 at the UIC Pavilion.
The Indianapolis native made 40 starts and played in 93 games during his three years with the Boilermakers.
He was named to the Big Ten’s All-Freshmen Team in 2009-10 and was Purdue’s first substitution in 22 games that season. In his junior year, Barlow averaged 8.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, reaching double-digit point totals 10 times.
Coming out of high school, Barlow was ranked as the No. 41 power forward in the country by ESPN.
