Sybil Derrible
Professor of Urban Engineering
Biography
Sybil Derrible is a professor of urban engineering in the UIC College of Engineering and a research professor at the Institute for Environmental Science and Policy at UIC. His research focuses on the design of smart, sustainable and resilient urban infrastructure, including transportation, water, sewer, electricity, gas, solid waste management and telecommunication.
Derrible looks both at the demand for and the supply of services provided by urban infrastructure to develop solutions to governments, nonprofits and industries in the world on smart cities, urban sustainability, infrastructure resilience, environmental justice, technology and urban futures.
Derrible is also a lead author on the United Nations Environmental Program Seventh Global Environment Outlook.
