Battle of the Bands winner will open next fall’s Spark

Brigade, winner of the first UIC Battle of the Bands.

UIC students showed off their talents at the Battle of the Bands contest March 19, sponsored by Campus Programs and UIC Radio.

Brigade was crowned the winner and will open Spark in the Park this fall. Other bands performing included The Kicky Mickys, TanZen, The Brothers StarRace, Gold Fires and One Man Down.

To qualify, bands were required to have at least one member from UIC and submit a video and biography. The finalists ranged from indie folk to metal, and were selected for quality of performance, music and social media presence. The audience and UIC judges picked the winner.
