UIC faculty and staff members can purchase tickets for UIC men’s basketball games for $10 per ticket by using the offer code “STAFF14” at Ticketmaster.com. Students are free with i-card.

ILLINOIS DRIVERS’ SERVICES TODAY

The Illinois Secretary of State mobile unit will be in the Student Center East concourse Dec. 10, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Available services include driver’s license and state ID renewal and replacement, vehicle sticker sales, vehicle license stickers, title and registration and the written driver’s exam (English only).

 

 FREE DENTAL SCREENING

The College of Dentistry is offering free dental screenings as its students prepare for their licensing exams.

Some patients may also receive free X-rays. The screenings will be 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 13, Jan. 10, Jan. 24 and Feb. 21 at 801 S. Paulina St. No appointment required. Patients must be at least 18 years old.

To qualify for the screenings, bring one form of ID and a current list of medications. Non-English speaking patients should bring a translator. No latex allergies.

 

FREE PARKING ON SOUTH CAMPUS

Free parking for up to two-and-a-half hours is offered through December at the UIC Maxwell Street Parking garage.

The parking deal for customers of nearby restaurants and businesses is sponsored by UIC Parking Services and University Village Marketplace

 

LIBRARY LATE NIGHTS CONTINUE

The Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago and the Daley Library will have extended hours through finals.

The Daley Library and IDEA Commons will be open around-the-clock from 10 a.m. Sunday until 7 p.m. Dec. 12. A current i-card is required to enter between 9 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.

From Dec. 7 through Dec. 18, the health sciences library will be open Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Friday, 7 a.m. to midnight; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to midnight.

All study areas, books and journals, computers and printers, circulation and reserve services, group study rooms, SMART rooms and laptop check-out (at the health sciences library) will be available.

UNDERGRADS CAN WIN $5,000

Deadline is Jan. 30 for UIC undergraduates to enter the annual Maurice Prize Competition sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

Students should undertake a project of their choice that addresses an issue, showing knowledge, creative use of resources and the ability to work with others to find solutions.

The winner — an individual or team — receives $5,000. Information sessions about the competition will be held Jan. 16, 1 to 2 p.m., and Jan. 20, 3 to 4 p.m., both in 226 Student Recreation Facility.
