GreenTown

The GreenTown Chicago conference will bring more than 400 public and private sector leaders from the Chicago area learn, network and take action on key sustainability issues today and Thursday.

The conference, held in Student Center East, focuses on the importance of sustainability in secondary education. Sessions are noon to 4:30 p.m.  today and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

 

Benefit Choice fair

Information about health care and other benefits will be available May 30 at the UI Health Benefit, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 30 in the UI Hospital’s first-floor conference rooms.

Besides benefits information from university representatives, there will be presentations from UI Health providers. Shuttle buses will be available from Science and Engineering South and the Student Services Building to the UI Hospital between 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

 

Woman of the Year

Nominations will be accepted through July 1 for UIC’s Woman of the Year Award.

The award is sponsored by the Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Women. Nominations should include a CV or résumé and at least three supporting letters describing the nominee’s service to UIC women as part of her job. Send nominations by email to ccswmail@uic.edu

 

What’s the latest WoRD?

The WoRD (Women’s Reading and Discussion) book club meets July 23 to discuss its latest selection The Wisdom of Whores: Bureaucrats, Brothels, and the Business of AIDS, by Elizabeth Pisani. The group, which is open to all employees and students, will meet from noon to 1 p.m. in 507 Disability, Health and Social Policy building, 1640 W. Roosevelt Road.

The book is available for purchase at a 20 percent discount at the UIC Bookstores or for check-out from the UIC Library.
