Your story submission should include:
- Quotes
- Photos (no more than five; at least one horizontal)
- Captions for photos
- A clear, concise headline
In the submission form:
Post title section: Create a headline that’s clear, concise and engaging:
- Focus on the main impact of the story.
- Keep it clear and simple.
- Highlight what’s happening and why it matters.
- Avoid acronyms.
Post body section: Create content that engages the UIC community:
- Use the inverted pyramid structure:
- Key message at the beginning: what’s happening and why it matters.
- Supporting details in descending order of importance.
- Include quotes when possible to provide perspective.
- Highlight impact: who benefits, what changes, why it matters.
- Aim for 500 words or fewer.
- Avoid acronyms and jargon.
- Use plain language that a general audience will understand.
- Include links to relevant UIC resources.
Post image section: Include images that visually represent your content:
- Use high-quality, clear images that are relevant to the story.
- Include captions and photo credits.
- When possible, use original photos rather than stock images or graphics.
