Join the UIC Latino Cultural Center this fall for the Climates of Inequality 2024 series of online conversations with environmental and climate justice leaders. Their work reveals frameworks and strategies to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change and environmental pollution on communities of color and low-income earners. Students in the Environmental and Climate Justice course in UIC College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will facilitate the conversations.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, Citlalli Trujillo will talk about efforts by the Pilsen Environmental Rights and Reform Organization to combat pollution from Sims Metal’s emissions in the Pilsen community. Trujillo, president of the organization, will share insights on the group’s latest project, which leverages stewardship and grassroots advocacy to ensure environmental accountability and justice in impacted communities while also revitalizing green spaces along the Pilsen Industrial Corridor.

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 5-6 p.m. on Zoom. Register for Trujillo’s presentation.
