Join the UIC Latino Cultural Center and the Social Justice Initiative for a series of virtual conversations with environmental and climate justice leaders from Chicago this fall. Their work reveals frameworks and strategies to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change and environmental pollution on communities of color, Black, Indigenous and low-income earners. Students in the Environmental and Climate Justice course* will facilitate the conversations.
Naomi Davis is the founder and CEO of Blacks in Green, an environmental justice and economic development organization in West Woodlawn on Chicago’s South Side. During her presentation, Naomi will share Blacks In Green’s various climate solution efforts and ways that allies can better engage, and be in kinship with their neighbors, to engineer hope and serve as a force for change — starting now.
