Join the Department of Black Studies for our annual celebration to honor the legacy of our founder Dr. Grace Holt and celebrate students! This year’s Grace Holt lecture will feature a roundtable discussion on “COVID, Black Lives, Black Futures.” Panelists will lead us in a conversation on the local and global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Black people’s lives. Moderated by Dr. Ainsworth Clarke (UIC Associate Professor of Black Studies and English).
Panelists include:
- Dr. Jennie Brier, UIC Professor of History and Gender and Women’s Studies; Living Women’s History of HIV/AIDS Project
- Dr. Kim Gallon, Associate Professor of History at Purdue; Executive Director of COVID Black
- Dr. Jaira Harrington, Assistant Professor of Black Studies at UIC
- Dr. Karriem Watson, Research Assistant Professor of Public Health at UIC; Assoc. Executive Director at Mile Square Health Center
