Crip Coffee Break: End of Semester Gathering and De-Stress Fest

Date / Time

December 6, 2023

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join the Disability Cultural Center for an end-of-semester gathering and general de-stress fest.

If you’re still going with finals, take a break with us!

Come when you can, leave when you want.

Options for de-stressing and being with folks include:

  • ASL chat (voices off, in Quiet Space) from 1-2 p.m.
  • Lay about and nap/floor time (in Quiet Space, and if it works for you, the DCC Lounge is fair game too!)
  • Games (Jenga, braille Uno, braille playing cards, tic-tac-toe, whatever you can dream up)
  • Crafting (crocheting, knitting, so many coloring options, origami)

DCC’s Crip Coffee Break is a chill and comfy space to meet people and take a break. Come as you are! We’ll put a pot of coffee on and we have snacks as well as tea/hot chocolate.

COVID safety: UIC does not require masking, but we are still masking in our spaces as an accessibility measure for chronically ill/immunocompromised folks and those living interdependently with them. Please wear a mask! We’ll have extras on hand. People may be sipping/eating and then replacing their masks. Zoom is another COVID-cautious option.

Access info: Our Center is on the 2nd floor and physically accessible via elevator. The Quiet Space is “voices off.” In the Lounge, we will have captions projected into the space with the Zoom. Please get in touch with any access requests or questions at dcc@uic.edu or 312-355-7050!
