Feminist Films: My Name is Kim Bok-Dong

Join the UIC Women’s Leadership and Resource Center, UIC Asian American Resource and Cultural Center, and KAN-WIN for a screening of 김복동 (My Name Is Kim Bok-Dong), the story of a human rights activist and survivor of sex slavery during World War II. The documentary follows her 27-year-long battle for justice against the Japanese government, until she passed away in January at the age of 93.

The event will include a short educational session with Professor Elizabeth Son (Northwestern University) and a discussion with Ms. Yoon Mi Hyang from the Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance for the Issues of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan.

Light snacks will be served.
