The documentary film FROZEN OBSESSION follows the 18-day Northwest Passage Project expedition aboard the Swedish research icebreaker Oden. The film documents a team of scientists, educators, a journalist, and 28 graduate and undergraduate students — including some from UIC — as they research and report about the impacts of climate change and loss of sea ice in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The documentary also explores the maritime history of the Northwest Passage, the geopolitics of this waterway, and how a changing climate is affecting the Arctic environment, wildlife, the indigenous Inuit people’s way of life.
