Please join us for a poetry reading and presentation with poet and professor Tomas Venclova (Yale University, Emeritus) entitled “Narratives of Pluralism in Lithuania’s Past and Present.” Professor Venclova will be joined by Jonathan Brent (Executive Director of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, New York), Mindaugas Kvietkauskas (Minister of Culture of Lithuania) and Faina Kukliansky (President of Jewish Community of Lithuania) for a panel discussion on the topic of multiculturalism and Lithuanian-Jewish Relations in present-day Lithuania, and on the role of culture and literature in contributing to narratives of pluralism. Event moderator – Karen Underhill, Assistant Professor of Polish and Jewish Studies, UIC Dept. of Polish, Russian and Lithuanian Studies.
