Revolutions and History Conference

Date / Time

November 19, 2024

11:00 am - 4:00 pm

The UIC Institute for the Humanities invites you to our Fall 2024 conference, Revolutions and History.

What is a revolution? Should we speak of revolution — or revolutions? “Revolution” immediately brings up tensions between the universal and the particular, between tradition and rupture, between the individual and the community, between theory and practice. Join us for two moderated panels and a roundtable discussion as we reflect on these tensions and on what revolution means, and can mean, for our own scholarship and for human emancipation today.

Invited panelists: Jack Goldstone (George Mason University), Dan Edelstein (Stanford University), Meryem Belkaid (Bowdoin College) and Jean-Daniel Lafontant (Haiti Cultural Services, Miami).

Registration is not required. Visit the Institute website for detailed information.
