Suspicious Activity Reports and the Surveillance State

Join the Arab American Cultural Center, the Arab American Action Network, and the Policing in Chicago Research Group in collaboration with GLAS 244 (Asian-Arab Connections taught by Professor Nadine Naber) in a presentation and conversation on “Suspicious Activity Reports and the Surveillance State.”

Speakers will discuss racial profiling and surveillance technologies impacting Arab American communities and present finding of a recent community-based report and the ways Arab Americans are working toward a world without surveillance and racial injustices:

  • Nadiyah Alyafai, from Arab American Action Network and UIC student.
  • Andy Clarno, from the Policing in Chicago Research Group and UIC professor.
