‘What’s Good and Growing on Campus?’

A day of intercultural exchange with activities that combine themes of environmental sustainability and cultural heritage will be presented by the University of Illinois at Chicago Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change and the UIC Heritage Garden Student Task Force.

The event features guided tours of the UIC Heritage Garden sites, recipe collecting and storytelling, cooking demonstrations, and dance and poetry performances.

Attendees can also learn about UIC programs and resources that integrate environmental and social concerns to improve the quality of life for all people. The event is inspired by the UIC Heritage Garden project, an experiential learning program where students, in collaboration with faculty, staff, and community members, engage in hands-on horticultural activities.

The garden program, which is funded by the UIC Green Fee and features an internship, is designed for participants to expand their knowledge of sustainable practices that include culturally diverse and environmentally friendly traditions and values. Admission is free.
