Paddle with the Freshwater Lab on Chicago’s Wild Mile

The Freshwater Lab is an initiative to communicate Great Lakes water issues to the general public, create tools to visualize the current state and future scenarios of water sources, engage unaffiliated groups in water planning, and train a new generation of Great Lakes leaders. Please see below for an opportunity to engage with the Freshwater Lab before the warmer months are over by experiencing the Chicago River in restoration.

Shedd and Urban Rivers work day on Wild Mile (Aug. 31, 5-7 p.m.)

As we approach the end of August, we have an opportunity to connect with Chicago’s river system through a paddle and work day on the Wild Mile. The Wild Mile is the world’s first-ever floating eco-park. It will be a mile-long stretch on the North Branch of the Chicago River with floating gardens and forests, public walkways, and kayak docks. Come paddle on the Wild Mile to learn about river ecology, help clean up the waterway, and do some wildlife research! The event will be on Wednesday, Aug. 31 from 5-7 p.m.

Limited spaces remain; please RSVP here.
