Expect more traffic detours near campus beginning this weekend through October, as the Jane Byrne Interchange construction project continues.

For the next two weekends, Aug. 21-23 and Aug. 28-30, only one lane will be open in both directions on the Dan Ryan and Kennedy (I-90/I-94) expressways between 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. The southeast ramp will be closed both weekends.

The Eisenhower (I-290) expressway will also be closed both weekends, eastbound from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday and westbound from 5 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Two closures are scheduled for the weekends of Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 16-18. The Eisenhower outbound will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The inbound Kennedy will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.

Several 15-minute traffic stops are scheduled during all four weekends.

Other closures may be announced for the weekends of Oct. 23-25, Nov. 6-8 and Nov. 13-15, depending on the weather.

The west lanes of the Halsted Street Bridge are closed for construction, with traffic in both directions diverted to the east lanes. West sidewalks are partially blocked and the Halsted Street CTA station must be accessed from the corner of Harrison Street.

The Illinois Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead or take public transportation to avoid slow commutes and heavy traffic.
