Biography
Andrew Riley is an assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences in the UIC College of Pharmacy.
Riley’s research centers on the discovery and development of novel compounds from natural products to treat pain and addiction. His laboratory has identified and isolated chemicals from the seeds of the African akuamma tree that offer promise as therapies for pain relief without addictive side effects. Another project takes inspiration from chemicals found in plants to design synthetic compounds that may help treat people fighting addiction to cocaine, alcohol, nicotine and other substances.
