Cynthia Taylor Handrup, director of the Psychiatric/Mental Health DNP program and primary care mental health concentration at UIC, advocates for individuals with mental illness and social inequalities.
As a Washington, D.C.,-based Mental Health Liaison Group member, Handrup is the only nurse on the 18-member Budget and Appropriations Committee, ensuring nursing representation in federal funding requests to Congress.
