Michael Bennett’s expertise spans physics, mathematics, law, science, and technology studies. He has extensive leadership experience in AI, data science, and innovation strategy across complex organizations.
At UIC, he helps lead the university’s data science and AI strategy to enhance academic offerings, drive cutting-edge research and improve campus operations across administrative and academic units.
Bennett’s research focuses on the societal implications of emerging technologies like AI and big data and their ethical applications. He is often invited to present as a keynote speaker on these topics.
He is also a licensed attorney who counsels primarily on intellectual property acquisition, valuation, and transactions. He has been featured as a legal subject matter expert in stories from The New York Times, Bloomberg Business Week, The Financial Times, USA Today, The Guardian, Le Figaro, and on various NPR affiliates and BBC Radio.
