Biography

dr-p-s-srirajSriraj heads the Urban Transportation Center at UIC, which is dedicated to conducting research, inspiring education and providing technical assistance on urban transportation planning, policy, operations and management. He also is director of the Metropolitan Transportation Support Initiative (METSI).

As a researcher, he has focused on public transportation systems, sustainability and transportation, and visualization of transportation. His broad experience includes using data and information systems to address complex urban issues, particularly in the areas of stakeholder involvement and other socioeconomic factors in transportation planning.

Sriraj has led projects totaling more than $12 million supporting research on operations and planning of surface transportation. He has also worked on environmental justice issues pertaining to transportation and on economic impact evaluations of targeted transportation for low-income population groups. In a related project, he directed a team that studied the effectiveness of job-access transportation programs and their impact on regional mobility.

His current and previous clients include the Chicago Transit Authority, Federal Transit Administration, Illinois Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Transportation and Illinois Department of Human Services.
