Director, Great Lakes ADA Center
Robin Jones has served as director of the Great Lakes ADA Center since its establishment in 1991, immediately after passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
A nationally recognized as an expert on ADA compliance and other federal legislation, she examines how the environment creates both barriers and opportunities for people with disabilities.
With other researchers at UIC, she studies community participation of people with disabilities, particularly cognitive and intellectual disabilities that can constrain the use of public transportation and engagement in community and cultural activities. She also does participatory-action research on policies and programs to de-institutionalize people with disabilities in Illinois.
